ABOUT US

I’m a 45-year-old single mum with a lifelong obsession for horses and dogs. Horses have been my world since I was five. As a child I trained a mini stallion from scratch who went on to beat his own world-champion father in international breed shows and a string of colts, fillies, mares, and stallions for showing, licensing, and cherished family homes. In the 1990s I collected young-handler and pony-club awards for both riding and turnout, was sponsored to ride Working Hunter Ponies, and competed in triathlons and show-jumping back when classes were packed with double-digit entries.

After school I studied at Brackenhurst Agricultural College, riding retired top-level competition horses under brilliant instructors such as Captain Alwen Varley. I even drove a Fell pony in a public demo—he was supposed to appear at the Pageant of the Horse until it was sadly cancelled. From there I added saddlery and leatherwork at Walsall College, passed Master Saddler exams, and juggled three jobs to earn a degree in Equine Sports Science at Caythorpe (now Riseholme).

My career has zig-zagged through grooming for top showing yards, working on racing stables, and rehabilitating off-the-track thoroughbreds long before “retraining racehorses” became a buzzword. My late uncle Pete Harvey fueled my love of racing—and yes, his knack for picking winners rubbed off on me.

Motherhood in 2006 shifted my pace but not my passion. I moved into western riding and Quarter Horses, eventually finding my dream colt, HW Texan Hobbit, a sorrel with top reining and cow-horse bloodlines. Though I didn’t pursue western riding further, I still weave western ideas into classical dressage, always chasing correct self-carriage and soundness over fads.

Being neurodiverse is my quiet superpower. I see horses and dogs as whole creatures—body, mind, and spirit—and I’m forever exploring how nutrition, biomechanics, and behaviour fit together. During a break from horses I bred, showed, and competed with German Spitz Klein and Border Collies in agility. I now judge three spitz breeds—two of which I can award CCs (championship certificates)—and I’m also an agility judge and breed health coordinator for both German Spitz varieties.

Two spells in ICU with Covid lit a fire under me. I’m back riding, chasing goals, and shaping the life I want: producing small, top-quality horses with sound minds and bodies, and creating a rehabilitation centre for retired racehorses. Every horse gets the time it needs—no cookie-cutter schedules, no rushing.

I believe strong foundations cross every discipline. I blend science, tradition, and a touch of intuition—call it hippy, call it horse sense. Every day is a school day, and I keep evolving from every meeting, human or animal.

If you share my passion for horses or dogs—whether you need advice, rehabilitation help, or a friendly country chat, or you’d like to book any of my services—please get in touch.

Hope to speak to you soon,

Becky :)
